Aeolian islands
We love the Aeolian Islands, for their beauty, for their charm, for their simplicity, for their vibe, for their more off-the-beaten-path feeling. Experiencing these islands is a treat, rent a house, stay in a hotel in Panarea or sail. There is much more to the Aeolian Islands than what Roaming Stones knows, but here we want to share one of our favorite destinations in the Med.

Monte Fossa Delle Felci-Salina
Magnificent Hike around a volcano
The walk departs from Valdichiesa and is definitely one of the tougher hikes we have done, quite vertical in parts, but rewarded by stunning views of this surprisingly green landscape that surrounds two inactive volcanos.
Hike Duration: 3 Hours
Level: 9.5/10

Stromboli hike-Salina
An active volcano you can hike up, just about to the rim (though we haven´t yet done the hike). We have however cruised around the island while having dinner, when you can see the eruptions of lava come down. This is most special at night when the fiery red lava spewing out of the crater is most visible.
