Dilaila Katsadia

Excellent Lunch and Dinner, and spot to Sip & Groove in Lipsi

Located on the island of Lipsi, opposite Patmos, this is a gem of a restaurant with a super cool vibe and setting. The food is Greek with a twist, don’t miss the feta and orange salad.

It is worth making a special trip to Dilaila, as it is much more than your typical Greek taverna, with colorful decor, excellent locally-sourced food, happy attentive service and a fun shop to pick up unique pieces!

Astivi Restaurant

Great for dinner in the Chora town of Patmos

Head to the charming rooftop terrace of Astivi, located up in the center of the Chora of Patmos, for excellent cocktails, good food, and a fun vibe…most nights a live DJ spins tunes in a fun bar and dance room just off the dining terraces. Great for dinner, or a nightcap after dinner if what you want is a little grooving before calling it a night.

Patmos is an island with many excellent restaurants, Benetos is one of the best. The sea setting and the terrace of the restaurant are beautiful, providing an elegant, magical ambiance.

Owned by the Greek chef Benetos and his American wife Susan, the menu reflects years of cooking experience in Europe and the US, and combines vegetables and herbs grown in their own organic garden located just in front of their restaurant, with fresh seafood, top quality meat, and freshly baked bread and pastries.

Manos Fish Taverna

Our recommendation for Manos comes with a warning…a rather big bill awaits after mediocre seafood but lots of plate-breaking.

Located in the stunning harbor of Symi, Manos looks like every other Greek taverna in the port, until Manos turns up the music and plates start flying across the tables.

The night becomes a bit of a cliché with ricocheting plates flying through the air, but if the diners are all in with the program, fun and laughs can be had.

Pantelis

Recommend for dinner in main Symi port

Wonderful setting in the stunning harbor of Symi, chef Pantelis is especially known for his squid ink dishes, but all seafood is fresh and delicious. Friendly local staff will look out for you as you enjoy the views and vibe at this lovely taverna.

Hike Skala to Chora

Hike from Skala (Patmos port) to Chora (main Patmos town)

Length:  4.2km

Level: 6/10

From the port of Skala, the uphill trail takes you to the Monastery of the Apocalypse, an important monument on Patmos, and eventually to the charming Chora.

Make sure to wear proper sneakers as the cobblestone and dirt path is often slippery. Head out early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the hot summer heat.

Arkoi, a smaller island part of the Patmos Municipality,  has pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a calm serene atmosphere.

Wander Chora Town

Patmos, a picturesque town in the north of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is famous for its spiritual and historical significance as the location where Saint John the Apostle received the divine revelation, leading to the writing of the Book of Revelation.

Many pilgrims travel to Chora every year to visit the The Cave of the Apocalypse. The Chora has an impressive medieval architecture, including the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Monastery of Saint John.
