Just as you leave the port by foot (see OUTDOOR VENTURE) nestled on the rocks right on the water is this glorious spot for a meal or just a magical sunset drink.

Téchne

Téchnē restaurant is located outside the port of Hydra, about a 10 minute walk following the coastal path, LEFT out of the port (facing the sea).

It serves delicious Greek food, has a great atmosphere on a beautiful outdoor terrace, and great cocktails.

Tassia’s Tavern

At the end of our favorite walk in Hydra (see OUTDOOR VENTURE) is this wonderful beach restaurant serving fresh fish and Greek salads.

Beaches in Hydra

Hydra is home to many beaches, but we will share just our favorite more secluded beaches!

Nisiza Beach is located near Church Agios Ioannis, on the southwestern coast of Hydra.

Plakes Beach is in front of the FourSeasons Hydra Hotel. A great spot to spend the day and enjoy lunch at The Tavern, the FourSeasons Hotel’s restaurant.

Bisti Beach is located on the northwestern coast of Hydra. It is a pebble beach although sunbeds can be rented for the day, make sure to book in advance. Near Bisti Beach is the Church Ekklisia Agios Georgios tucked inside a small clear water bay (second picture to the right).

One of the bigger beaches in Hydra is Paralia Agios Nikolaos, located on the northwestern tip of the island.

Hydra Loop

The hike that offers a birds eye view on hydra

Level: 7/10

Length: 8.7-km circular trail

The trail wraps around the port of Hydra and takes about two and half hours to hike.

Departing from the port, head up towards Mount Karessas, and then left of the windmill. You will then begin the downhill portion that takes you to the coastal path along the water towards Mandraki and back to Hydra port.

Northern Coastal Trail

A roaming stones favorite hike!

Level: 4/10

Length: 11.1-km out-and-back trail, do as little and as much as you want

Looking outwards towards the sea, walk to your far left out of the port and onto a coastal path that wraps along the northern coast of the island. Hydra is known for the many monasteries and churches scattered throughout its land, so look out for them on your hike!
