We love Menorca but we don´t consider ourselves experts. We´ve cruised the south coast, from Ciutadella, a stunning, mini Bonifacio, fjord-like port to Mahón, the eastern main port of Menorca. Recently Menorca is much more `on the map´, but the locals have taken a strong position against over development, leaving loads to enjoy in a relaxed way on this less developed Balearic island.

Cafe Balear
No reservations, but worth the wait
Simple yet excellent restaurant in the charming port town of Ciutadella. Lobster dishes are a speciality but all the seafood is delicious. They don’t take reservations and getting a table can sometimes be challenging, often you end up queueing with a drink while waiting. Recommended for dinner.

STREET-SIDE EATERY IN PORT OF MAHON
Cruising into the 6 km-long Port of Mahón is truly spectacular, and a delicious lobster dish awaits you at this excellent, simple seafood restaurant. Recommended for dinner.

calas of menorca
on Saura, Cala des Talaier, Cala en Turqueta, Cala Macarella, Cove Es Canutells
On the south coast of Menorca, as you leave Ciutadella cruising in an easterly direction towards Mahón, you will come across many stunning “calas” or coves. Enjoy swimming in clear aquamarine waters with white sandy bottoms. Most of the coves are small, best to arrive early to pick your anchorage, otherwise you may end up anchoring outside of the cove. All the coves and beaches are also accessible by foot.
Further east from the previous coves mentioned is COVE ES CANUTELLS, another beautiful cove that will provide a great anchorage for a day of swimming and beaching in beautiful turquoise waters.
